Why people choose us in Murcia

Thermal-insulation specialists for an inland continental climate

Murcia city is not the coast: it is inland Spain with extreme summers (up to 42 °C) and very dry air. The priority is not salinity — it is controlling solar heat gain and cutting the HVAC bill, which in many homes in Vistabella or La Flota tops €280/month in July-August.

☀️

SunGuard solar control as standard

In Murcia we recommend glass with solar factor g ≤ 0.32 (SunGuard SN 40/23 or ClimaGuard Solar): it blocks up to 60% of radiant heat without darkening the room.

🌡️

CTE B4 zone — the toughest

Murcia is climate zone B4 (hot-hot-hot), stricter than the coastal B3. Our windows meet Uw ≤ 1.4 W/m²K with the solar factor regulated by CTE DB-HE 2019.

🏭

Our own factory 80 km away

We cut and assemble in our own workshop in Alicante: 80 km to Murcia city via the AP-7. No middlemen = 15-22% less than franchised chains buying from catalogue.

🎓

Communities near the UMU

We have refurbished entire buildings in Espinardo (near the University of Murcia) and El Carmen. Block-by-block orders with a schedule signed off by the property manager and a single certificate.

📋

Region of Murcia subsidies

We process NextGen IDAE Region of Murcia (up to 80%), the 60% IRPF deduction for energy works and INFO (Instituto de Fomento) grants up to 31/12/2026.

🛡️

10-year written warranty

Ten-year warranty on the profile + 5 years on Roto NX hardware + 2 years on seals. Signed contract. If you get condensation, warping or leaks, we return to Murcia at no charge.

The climate rules everything

Why 20-year-old windows fail in Murcia

Murcia city records 300 sunny days a year, very low humidity (55% relative humidity), extreme summers up to 42 °C and day-night swings of +15 °C in spring and autumn. The dominant wind is the dry, cold northerly Cierzo. This generates problems specific to inland Spain:

  • Radiant overheating from SW-facing rooms: a July sun in Murcia drives 950 W/m² through a window with no solar control — heating the room 6-8 °C above outdoor temperature. That is why solar-control glass is standard here.
  • Expansion-contraction from thermal swings: going from 18 °C at night to 38 °C by day warps cheap PVC frames without steel reinforcement. German Kömmerling profiles (class S) carry 1.5 mm galvanised steel: they hold without warping for 40+ years.
  • Dryness cracks old EPDM seals: with 55% ambient humidity, 1990s rubber dries out, hardens and lets in winter draughts (and winters here are cold at dawn too).
  • The northerly Cierzo vibrates single glazing: the cold winter wind (Oct-Mar) whistles through 4 mm glass. We replace it with triple 4/12/4/12/4 glazing with argon: silence + Uw 0.8 W/m²K.

Your property type

Solutions by property type in Murcia

Murcia has very different property types — from old-town flats with heritage rules to La Alberca chalets with gardens. Here is what we recommend for the 4 most common profiles in the city.

Old-town / centre flat

70-110 m² home in a protected building near Plaza Belluga, Trapería or Santo Domingo. Town hall facade restrictions.

Typical problem

You cannot change the outward appearance, yet old timber leaks air and heat. Needs heritage-friendly carpentry.

VentanaCosta solution

Restoration + PVC with wood-effect foil in a RAL colour approved by the heritage department, low-e glass. €5,000-9,000.

Vistabella / PAU flat

Recent development 80-100 m², often SW-facing, small terrace, community with pool.

Typical problem

Afternoon overheating in July, AC bill €220-320/month in summer, ring-road noise.

VentanaCosta solution

Kömmerling 76 mm + triple solar-control glass 6/16/4/16/4 SunGuard. €4,500-6,500. 40-50% savings.

La Alberca / El Palmar chalet

Single-family home 150-220 m², 2 storeys, garden and porch, large SW-facing windows.

Typical problem

House overheats in summer from direct exposure, old plastic shutters, large living-room openings.

VentanaCosta solution

Full Cortizo aluminium package + thermal shutters + 5 m HS slider in living room. €12,000-25,000.

Espinardo / La Flota homeowners' association

Blocks of 60-150 flats near UMU, La Flota or El Carmen. Block-by-block refurbishment approved at the AGM.

Typical problem

1980s aluminium without thermal break, central heating losing efficiency, complaints about uneven facade looks.

VentanaCosta solution

Single order with 14-20% discount, staged manufacture, fixed price per A/B/C unit type.

Which material suits Murcia

PVC or aluminium in Murcia: which to choose

In Murcia city what really matters is thermal performance — not salinity as on the coast. That is why PVC usually wins for primary homes. This table summarises our recommendation from 14 years of work in the Region.

The team that comes to your home

Named people with local experience

VentanaCosta does not subcontract: the surveyor who measures is on the payroll, and so is the installer. This matters in Murcia because every district has its own quirks — La Flota communities with strict schedules, heritage buildings in the city centre, Vistabella urbanisations with internal rules.

We have been installing across Alicante and the Region of Murcia since 2010. Fourteen years, 3,200+ homes, zero court cases.

Frequently asked questions

Answering the most common questions in Murcia

How long does a full installation in Murcia take?+

From quote sign-off to handover: 10-14 working days of manufacture + 1-2 days of installation per home (typical flat). For chalets in La Alberca or El Palmar with full enclosures: 2-4 weeks. For an Espinardo community we plan block by block, 2-3 weeks each.

Does the on-site survey cost anything?+

No. On-site survey + fixed quote are free and with no obligation across Murcia city, the outlying districts (La Alberca, El Palmar, Beniaján, Cabezo de Torres) and nearby towns such as Alcantarilla, Molina de Segura and San Pedro del Pinatar.

Is double or triple glazing better for Murcia?+

For Murcia city we recommend triple glazing with solar control (4/16/4/16/4 with SunGuard) on S, SW and W orientations: B4 is the toughest climate zone in Spain and the low solar factor (g ≤ 0.32) blocks radiant heat. For N and NE, double low-e glass is enough. We tailor the recommendation to your specific facade during the survey.

Can you fit windows in Murcia's historic centre with heritage restrictions?+

Yes. We use wood-effect PVC or aluminium lacquered in a RAL colour approved by Murcia town hall heritage department. We advise on the permit process, draft a technical memo if needed and deliver a certificate of aesthetic compliance.

Can you prepare the paperwork for Region of Murcia subsidies?+

Yes. We provide: itemised invoice by chapters, before-and-after energy certificate where required, installer's declaration, product datasheets and CE marking. That gives you everything for NextGen IDAE Region of Murcia, IRPF, INFO and the Murcia town hall IBI rebate.

My July AC bill is €280/month — how much will it drop?+

On our closed Murcia projects with triple solar-control glazing, the July-August AC bill drops 40-55%. From €280 you typically go down to €130-170. Energy ROI in Murcia is faster than on the coast (5-7 years) precisely because of the inland summer extreme.

How does payment work? Do you accept financing?+

We accept bank transfer, card and Bizum. Standard payment terms: 50% on signing and 50% on installation completion (not before). For larger projects we can split into 3 milestones. If you need bank financing, we recommend lenders offering preferential rates for energy refurbishment — some Murcia city branches have dedicated lines.

What happens to my old windows?+

We dismantle them, remove them and take them to an authorised waste facility in the Region of Murcia. Removal cost is included in the quote — it does not appear as an "extra" at the end. If your homeowners' association needs a waste-management certificate for the AGM, we provide it.
